I was born in the North East of England in a small town called Washington, situated between Newcastle and Sunderland. I had a passion for art from an early age, which later developed into a love for jewellery design and production. Ever since Secondary School I knew I wanted to follow a career in the creative industry. I assured this in college by gaining 4 A levels and a distinction at BTEC foundation studies in Art and Design. I studied at Sunderland College for 4 years, and it was there that my interest in jewellery came to the forefront. The next step was to specialise in a Jewellery Design degree at Central Saint Martin College of Art and Design in London. My time there was both exciting and extremely challenging. I was able to accrue specialist knowledge and skills in Design and Making from the very best tutors, helping to ease my steps into a career in Design. I was nominated for Student Designer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards the same year Carrick was nominated for Supplier of the Year. It was here, by a happy coincidence, that I first met Carrick Ltd.
For me, the real iconic key piece I can't live without has to be the Carrick Cuff. With the interchangeable ribbon it can match any outfit, dress or casual. I love it.
This season's trend is Black and White. Any piece from our new collection would set off any outfit perfectly. My favourite set for every-day wear is the black rhodium and haematite ball necklace and bracelet with the long earrings. For those special occasions, my choice would have to be the silver and black rhodium droplet necklace with earrings and matching ring.
My ambitions are to become a stronger and more confident designer and to design an award-winning collection for Carrick, thereby building on Carrick's existing success and continuing this into the future.

Inspired by her father, an architect who had studied at the Glasgow School of Art, Lauren's interest in design began to develop at an early age. Lauren studied Silversmithing and Jewellery Design at the renowned Glasgow School of Art.
Having made good use of university holidays, taking every opportunity to travel, Lauren felt ready to work upon completion of the BA(Hons) course.
Immediately after graduation Lauren gained employment with an independent designer retail chain as their buyer/designer. This job gave her great insight into the fashion and jewellery industry at large, and allowed her to travel to major shows in Europe and the Far East.
Since joining the design team at Carrick, Lauren has been able to enjoy her most creative role yet - "Carrick is a really forward thinking company. They have a creative approach towards every aspect of their business, and I am excited to be designing for them."

Laura Tabor discovered her passion for jewellery at a young age, using anything she could get her hands on to turn it into jewellery. At the age of 16 Laura completed a year's apprenticeship in Jewellery making in Essex. She then went on to study jewellery making at Sir John Cass, and followed this two year course with a year's Design, Jewellery Making and Gemmology at the London school of Gemmology.
After four years of practical jewellery making, Laura embarked on a Jewellery Design degree at Central St Martins. It was at St Martins where Laura really discovered her own style and flair for design.
After a successful degree show, she set up her own label "Laura Tabor London", selling jewellery to shops, department stores and boutiques in and around London, as well as internationally.
In addition to running her own label, Laura consults and designs for other companies on a freelance basis.
Laura is currently designing for Carrick UK.
Laura on Carrick UK:
"I really enjoy designing for Carrick, as it is constantly changing according to current trends, which means each season there is a fresh approach to the collections. It is a brand that is already established, but is still pushing the boundaries of unique design. My iconic Carrick piece is the gold and silver egg pendant - it is so chunky and tactile and has a real sixties / futuristic feel, which is going to be a huge trend next season. This season I will be wearing the heamatite collection as it is so wearable. It can be worn casually with jeans or a sexy little black dress! "
